Dementia - Innovative care for persons with dementia
Informal carers for people with dementia are having a hard time
People who take care for someone with dementia are having a rough time.
Most of these caregivers don't have any time left for their own life, feel under pressure and are constantly concerned with the situation of the person who they take care off.
That is what informal carers report in a study published last Tuesday by the Alzheimer Netherlands and Nivel.
The researchers asked 3,300 caregivers about their experiences. 70% of that group mentioned to feel under pressure because of the disease of their loved ones. A large majority (85 percent) agreed with the statement '"the situation of my loved one never let me go''.
